What We Collect

We collect the following categories of data:

Contact Information
When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive and store your email address and display name via Firebase Authentication. These are linked to your account.

Account Identifier
A unique user ID (Firebase UID) is created for your account and used to associate your data across sessions and devices.

Usage Data
We store your timer configuration, practice sessions, and saved presets in Firestore to sync settings and provide session history and stats. This data is linked to your account.

Purchase History
RevenueCat records your purchase entitlement (e.g. OSCE Premium Lifetime) to unlock premium features. We record store trial start and end dates and billing status with your account. For actual charges or refunds, we store transaction details such as the transaction identifier, purchase date, product, amount and currency for revenue reporting. A free trial start is not recorded as a payment. We never see or store your payment card details — payments are processed entirely by Apple or Google.

Customer Support
If you submit feedback or a bug report through the app, the message text is stored in Firestore linked to your account so we can respond.

We do not collect any health, fitness, location, or biometric data.

How We Use It

Your data is used solely to provide the app's features — syncing your settings, displaying your session calendar, verifying your trial and premium entitlement, maintaining purchase records, preventing repeated app-managed trial grants, and managing your account. We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

Lawful Basis (UK / EU GDPR)

We process account and usage data where necessary to provide the App and perform our contract with you. Where we rely on consent, such as permission for local notifications, you may withdraw it through your device settings.

Payments

Premium is available as an annual auto-renewing subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We use RevenueCat to verify purchases and three-day introductory subscription trials using an app account ID. Previously granted app-managed trials keep their original end dates; their start and end times and a sign-in-identity record remain stored to prevent repeated grants in older versions. Referral and promotional codes may provide a temporary access period; they do not create a paid subscription. We never see or store your payment card details.

Third-Party Services

We use Firebase (Google) for authentication and database storage, RevenueCat for purchase verification, and Expo for the app runtime. Each of these services has its own privacy policy.

Notifications

If you grant notification permission, the App may schedule local timer notifications on your device. Notification content is generated on your device and is not stored on our servers.

Data Retention

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can request account deletion at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. We delete or de-identify account-linked data as part of that process, but may retain limited records where required for security, fraud prevention, legal, accounting, or transaction purposes.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you may have rights to access, correct, port, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to object to its processing. Contact us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

OSCE Timer is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
